Guest Access for Online and Hybrid Courses

  • Faculty can request additional enrolments into their course. Some examples of these types of requests are:
    • Supervisor or Program Coordinator that wants to assist with teaching.
    • Special guests who would like to participate in a Conference
    • Students who want to audit/observe a course
    • Supervisor or Program Coordinator who wants to view course materials

 

How to Request Guest Access

  • A written request must be sent to the designated instructional designer for the course
    • The request must come from the official instructor of record for the course.
    • The request must include any relevant contact information (ex: email address if they are not a member of Rowan University).
    • The request must include the level of access to be granted.
    • If applicable a window of access can be included if a timed period of access is desirable. 

 

Access Levels

  • Guest access can be provided at two levels; Observer-level access which will grant view only access to the course and Teacher-level access which provides them full access to everything in the coruse. Below is a chart outlining the two levels of access

Can view content

No gradebook access

Cannot participate in Discussions

Cannot participate in Conferences

 

Can access all areas of the course

Full gradebook access

Can participate in Discussions

Can participate in Conferences

 

Removing Access

  • Access can be removed or altered at any time
  • A written request must be sent to the designated instructional designer for the course
    • The request must come from the official instructor of record for the course.
